The human race is God’s creation. The bible clearly and definitely maintains this fact. There is abundant evidence woven into the body and spirit of each person to further prove the undeniable marks of divine power and creativity.1
The method of mankind’s appearance on the earth was by the direct creative action and Power of God. It was part of God’s plan to place man over the world He had created. He was to have dominion over everything, and have communion with God.2
Following the orderly appearance of light, sea and land, and then the lesser creatures, the creation of man is forever set apart as we see the Persons of the Godhead pause to hold conference concerning the status of these new creatures, Man and Woman.3
There is no valid reason to suppose that these events did happen other than plainly stated in the Bible. God took clay from the earth and with His own hands formed the body of man. Then, God did something He had done for any other of His creatures. He stooped down and breathed His own life into the nostrils of man, and man became a living soul.4
Adam and his wife Eve began their lives in the Garden of Eden, which God had prepared. Adam and Eve found themselves in the image and likeness of God. The image apparently means the threefold nature of man with body, soul, and spirit. The likeness has to do with human intelligence and rationality.5
For His new creatures God did much to make obedience to His will easy. Both were possessed of sound minds free from any form of inherited weakness. Food was in abundance, work was provided, companionship was with each other and warning was made of the consequences of disobedience. Daily fellowship with their Creator-God was possible.
Some have wondered why the Tree of Temptation was allowed in the midst of the Garden of Eden. It must be remembered that our first parents were rational creatures with the power of choice. God wanted Adam and Eve to decide for Him and for righteousness, but there could be no act of choice unless the possibility of wrong choice was also present.
Into this ideal scene, Satan came in the form of a serpent. His method of approach was gradual. First, he approached Eve, and cast doubts on the prohibition of God, later denying it; and still later, questioned the goodness and righteousness of God. Eve was deceived and disobeyed.
Adam was not deceived and yet also disobeyed.6 For this gross insult of their Creator, both were cast out of the Garden of Eden to earn their own living by hard work, and in sorrow.7
By this sin, humans brought upon themselves spiritual death, physical death, and the possibility of eternal death. Sin is also threefold, there is original sin, a sinful nature, and individual acts of sin. While Adam became a sinner by sinning, men sin today because they are already sinners, or born into the sinful race of Adam.8
The true character of the fallen human race is graphically seen in the life of Cain, the first child born upon the earth, whose sins included envy, hatred, premeditation of murder, and the act of murder itself. Within a few centuries the corruption of civilization had grown so bad that God was forced to utterly wipe out every living creature, and establish a new order under Noah.9
