"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another".1
"The seed is the word of God".2 The Word of God is about the Lord Jesus. In fact, the Word of God is the Lord Jesus.3 God sent His only Begotten because He loves us.4 We can conclude easily that whether we are SOWING or RECEIVING the SEED, it is an act of mercy, grace and love from the Almighty Father. There is only ONE SEED.
The disciple is a sower of the SEED. We can expect these kinds of soil: 5
The Path - seed is trodden under foot; birds carry it away.
The Rocks - seed is received with joy, but has no roots.
The Thorns - people hear about the seed, but they go their way; they are choked by the pleasures and cares of this life and their fruit does not mature.
The Good Soil - they hear the word, hold fast, and bring forth fruit.
The Good Soil is in contrast to the others. We can see this in the Discipleship Triangle as follows:
"They hear the Word"- LOVE-SEED
"They hold fast" (gain root) - ABIDE-FEED
"They bring forth Fruit"- BEAR FRUIT- SUCCEED.
Seeding is loving. "We love, because He first loved us".6 This is why we sow.
